Senior Technical Solution Architect - Nutanix / VMware Infrastructure

Position overview 

Con Edison is seeking a Senior Technical Solution Architect to support enterprise server, virtualization, storage, networking, security, and disaster-recovery environments. The successful candidate will provide hands-on expertise in Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere, Nutanix cluster administration, hypervisor migrations, server infrastructure, automation, and critical-infrastructure operations. 

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and support VMware vSphere and Nutanix AHV environments. 
• Plan and execute VMware-to-Nutanix AHV hypervisor migrations. 
• Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Nutanix clusters. 
• Administer Windows and Linux servers, users, file systems, applications, and services. Manage Active Directory, domain services, backup, recovery, and Group Policy. Support RAID, storage, server hardware, capacity planning, and performance optimization. Troubleshoot DHCP, DNS, routing, firewall, VLAN, and related infrastructure issues. 
• Apply security principles involving ACLs, encryption, authentication, authorization, and system hardening. 
• Develop automation using PowerShell, Bash, KornShell, Perl, or similar scripting tools. Monitor system health and performance and identify infrastructure bottlenecks. Perform backup, restore, patching, firmware updates, and disaster-recovery activities. 
• Support dark-site patching of Nutanix hypervisors and infrastructure components where required. 
• Maintain technical documentation, system designs, operating procedures, and support guides. 
• Support baselining and monitoring, including Industrial Defender where applicable. Provide on-call, after-hours, emergency, and scheduled-maintenance support. Travel to supported company locations as needed.
